Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy — Love2Play Football
1. Our Commitment
Love2Play Football recognises its moral and statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children (under 18) in our care. We provide a safe, effective, and enjoyable environment where participants can thrive, free from abuse, neglect, bullying, or poor practice.
2. Guiding Principles
The welfare of every child is our top priority.
All children, regardless of background or ability, have the right to protection.
We take all suspicions or allegations of abuse seriously and will act swiftly.
We work with children, parents, The FA, county welfare officers, and statutory agencies to ensure their safety.
3. Safe Recruitment & Staff Responsibilities
All coaches, volunteers, and staff roles are clearly defined with eligibility documentation and at least two references required before appointment.
We appoint a Lead Safeguarding Officer, responsible for oversight and liaison with The FA and County FA.
All personnel undergo FA safeguarding training and abide by our recruitment policy to reduce risk.
4. Behaviour & Conduct
Bullying in any form—physical, verbal, emotional, or online—is not tolerated. Serious incidents will be reported to the Lead Safeguarding Officer and further referred as needed.
We enforce Respect Codes of Conduct for players, parents/guardians, coaches, and spectators, with sanctions for misconduct.
5. Recognising & Reporting Concerns
All staff and volunteers are trained to recognise signs of abuse, such as changes in behaviour, unexplained injuries, withdrawal, or inappropriate sexual awareness.
Reports of poor practice should first go to the Lead Safeguarding Officer or Club Welfare Officer. If it is more serious (possible abuse), we will involve County FA Welfare, Police, or Children’s Social Care ICMD, and inform parents unless doing so places the child at risk.
Emergency: If unable to reach local safeguarding contacts or if the child is at immediate risk, we will call the Police or Children’s Social Care and The FA Safeguarding Team on 0800 169 1863, or the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000.
6. Whistleblowing
Anyone—staff, volunteers, parents, or players—can report concerns about adult behaviour via our whistleblowing process. Reports can also be made directly to The FA Safeguarding Team on 0800 169 1863 or by emailing Safeguarding@TheFA.com, as well as contacting local authorities.
7. Monitoring & Review
Our safeguarding policy is reviewed annually—or sooner if legislation changes—to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice. The next formal review is scheduled for July 29, 2026.
